  1. Jeff Gordons contract is up his year, hope he does but doubt he will resign on. You can hear conflict. Im not sure if DW actually liked the addition. I get a lot info from Jeff when he helps calls race and DW at times tries to over talk him, when Jeffs right in the first place. I give Jeff lot of credit cause he just lets DW go, probably out of respect. Yea, Clint needs to be more respectful. His family is there at the bus while medias family mostly home. Feel for you guys cause drivers fly home with private planes while most media drive or have to book flights. Nice podcast,

  2. I’ve always had a great respect for DW and thought a lot of people were just meanspirited when he was being castigated by many from the get-go in ’01. But as the years have worn on, I think it has become obvious. DW has worn out his welcome. I noticed he was being weird all broadcast, even during the pre-race. His schtick is wearing thin and with Chris’ allegations of DW’s not doing his due diligence in being a reporter, well, that doesn’t bode well for Fox or the team there.

Everything has an end, and DW’s time in the booth should have an end sooner than later.

    1. Ted, It used to bother the heck out of me too, people always putting DW down. But now I’m with you and the others concerning his seeming animosity with Jeff. I even tweeted a couple time last season asking @AllWaltrip if @JeffGordonWeb could do nothing right.

  3. After Daytona, I was already ready for FOX coverage to end and NBC to start. This weekend at track, I listened to PRN (and my drivers) on Scanner (FOX Scrambles their signal) I saw Mike Joy, Larry Mac, Regan Smith, and Hermie Sadler in garage this weekend but no DW.

  4. I wish that, when Jeff Gordon signed on with Fox, the main booth had been Mike Joy, Gordon, and Larry Mac (instead, Larry Mac got booted into some other random booth somewhere). Both Waltrips are a big reason why I prefer NBC’s coverage to Fox’s, and Knighter’s contention that DW doesn’t spend time in the garage honestly doesn’t surprise me. What bugs me most about DW (aside from his repeated failed attempts at humor) is… like, Jeff will say something, break something down, make a really good point about something… and then DW will interject with something completely unrelated. I really wish there was selective muting, so I could listen to everyone else on Fox’s team except for DW and Mikey.

  5. DW wore out my one last nerve the DAY they put him in the booth PERIOD! He and Mikey are not bringing anything to the commentary AT ALL except arguably some “performing” their own agenda “Look at ME!” And Clint Bowyer has had a chip on his shoulder forever! His behavior does not surprise me! He is a black sheep without a herd and it is EVERYBODY ELSE’s FAULT!

  6. I also listened to PRN. I prefer PRN or MRN as grew up with NASCAR on radio before was on TV. I do not care for either Waltrip’s and especially Michael’s stunts etc.. And they wonder why viewership is down! Haven’t been to NASCAR race since 9/11 but prefer Knoxville Nationals especially Wednesday & Thursday qualifying nights. This year at Daytona the 150’s were moot since everyone qualified for race same at Indy with no Bump day. Used to be fun to see George Snider take an extra Foyt car and put in field. Both Fox and NBC need to be better in their coverage but need to change some people!
