As of this post, there are 6.5 hours left until the deadline (midnight ET) for people to submit their Fantasy Chase picks. (UPDATE: As of midnight Sept 14, the entries are now closed.)

And you won’t believe it, but there are 91 eligible players who still haven’t sent in their picks (or sent them in incorrectly and I need them to resubmit).

JOLIET, Ill. — Jon Edwards, Jeff Gordon’s public relations representative, joined the Fantasy Chase as a last-minute addition Friday at Chicagoland Speedway.

The Fantasy Chase is made of up 261 players — now 262 — who won at least one race in the 26-race regular season, which concluded last weekend at Richmond International Raceway. Edwards did not participate during the regular season, but league commissioner Jeff Gluck said Edwards was an avid fantasy player who deserves to have an opportunity.

“I should have invited Jon at the beginning of the season, but I overlooked him,” Gluck said. “I’m adding Jon because I have the authority to do that and it’s the right thing to do.”

Edwards has been Gordon’s PR rep since 2000. He is in charge of several fantasy leagues across a variety of sports, including football, soccer and Formula One.

“I’m excited to have this invitation extended,” Edwards said.

Gluck said only 139 of the eligible players had submitted their entries as of Friday afternoon, which he called “stupid.”

“I mean, hello?” he said. “People waited all year for the Fantasy Chase to start, and now it’s here and half the people haven’t signed up yet! Do people realize the deadline is Saturday at midnight Eastern time?”

The deadline to submit picks is Saturday at midnight Eastern time.

Thanks to everyone for a great regular season! Now it’s time for the Fantasy Chase — at least for the 261 people who won at least one time in the first 26 races to advance.

We only had two people pick Brad Keselowski at Richmond — and neither of them were new winners. Unfortunately, 65 people failed to advance out of the regular season.

For those of you who qualified (list below), I need your picks by SATURDAY AT MIDNIGHT ET.

The short version of how the Fantasy Chase works: Using the form linked below, you can pick one Chase driver per week and use him only once throughout the Chase. Pick all 10 weeks and do not repeat any drivers … For the first round, your driver must finish in the top 12 among Chase drivers in each race or you are eliminated … In the second round, your driver must be among the top eight in the remaining Chase drivers or you are eliminated … In the third round, your driver must be in the top four finishers of the remaining Chase drivers or you are eliminated … Whoever has the highest finisher at Homestead among remaining players wins.
