JOLIET, Ill. — Jon Edwards, Jeff Gordon’s public relations representative, joined the Fantasy Chase as a last-minute addition Friday at Chicagoland Speedway.

The Fantasy Chase is made of up 261 players — now 262 — who won at least one race in the 26-race regular season, which concluded last weekend at Richmond International Raceway. Edwards did not participate during the regular season, but league commissioner Jeff Gluck said Edwards was an avid fantasy player who deserves to have an opportunity.

“I should have invited Jon at the beginning of the season, but I overlooked him,” Gluck said. “I’m adding Jon because I have the authority to do that and it’s the right thing to do.”

Edwards has been Gordon’s PR rep since 2000. He is in charge of several fantasy leagues across a variety of sports, including football, soccer and Formula One.

“I’m excited to have this invitation extended,” Edwards said.

Gluck said only 139 of the eligible players had submitted their entries as of Friday afternoon, which he called “stupid.”

“I mean, hello?” he said. “People waited all year for the Fantasy Chase to start, and now it’s here and half the people haven’t signed up yet! Do people realize the deadline is Saturday at midnight Eastern time?”

The deadline to submit picks is Saturday at midnight Eastern time.

For those who need to brush up on the rules, they can be found here. To submit your picks (winners only), the form can be found here. (UPDATE: As of midnight Sept 14, the entries are now closed.)

This brings in to question this fantasy game compared to other sports fantasy games. Since when does a CEO of a fantasy game get to change the rules right at the crux of the playoffs. Did Gluck’s hand have an itch when he was sending out the invites? Was it….INTENTIONAL??? Only Gluck knows that answer, but this we know, in no other fantasy sports league, where the top prize is millions of nothings would this be allowed. You can’t just add people willy-nilly! AND, the fact that the added player works for….wait for it…..Jeff Gordon!!!! This seems strangely familiar, and quite frankly, makes me need a 5-hour energy drink just to keep track!

Now, the naysayers will say, how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood, which is why I never listen to naysayers, they are usually always drunk! But I say, Mr. Gluck, that quoting yourself in a story should tell all of us players in your so called, “Fantasy League”, that this competition doesn’t hold water, and may need some 3M to stop the leak, whatever that means. Lets face it, you’ve already had to change the rules because you underestimated how good people would be at your game! So this I’ll say in closing, if Mr. Jon Edwards, who somehow got out of politics after being tried on campaign charges, and went to be Jeff Gordon’s PR Rep, happens to win this game, no one will ever take your fantasy league game serious again, AND, I will expect a refund on my entry fee asap.
I’m just so angry, I feel like I could climb a catchfence and scream!

    Sincerely,
    Jason Alison
